A middle aged woman died at 4am on Monday, after taking a heavy beating from her neighbours over a land dispute in Sadullapur upazila, Gaibandha on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Hasina Begum,45, from Gavindaroy Debottar Baghjana village in the Sadullapur upazila.
Officer-in-Charge(OC) of Sadullapur Police Station Arshedul Haque said neighbor Jamirul Islam was building a sewer near Hasina’s house, which Hasina and her husband Saidar Ali tried to stop.
Subsequently, there was a confrontation between Jamirul and Hasina, and Jamirul's family members got involved in the fight.
Jamirul's family beat up Hasina and Saider, leaving them severely injured.
Saidar and Hasina were taken to the upazila health complex for treatment.
On March 31 , when Hasina's health deteriorated, the doctor of the upazila health complex suggested that she be shifted to a hospital in Rangpur or Bogra.
Saider Ali couldn't afford better treatment for Hasina, so he took her home instead, where she died in the early hours of Monday.
The victim's son Hasanur Rahman has filed a murder case with the Sadullapur Police Station, the OC added.
Police sent the victim's body to Gaibandha Adhunik Hospital morgue for autopsy.
