A gang of culprits has murdered a woman in front of her toddler girl, by slitting her throat in Tangail.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening, in Kabilapara village under Porabari union of sadar upazila. The deceased is Rezia Begum, wife of Saudi immigrant Arif Hossain of the same area. She was also a mother to a son and a daughter.
Quoting Rezia’s relatives, Tangail model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sayedur Rahman said: “Rezia, accompanied by her 4-year-old daughter, carried food to a nearby madrasa on Thursday evening. While returning home, a gang of culprits slit her throat and threw her body in a roadside paddy field.
“After hearing the cries of the Rezia’s daughter, the locals took the victim to Tangail General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival. Police have launched a drive to detain the culprits, and a process is underway to file a case regarding the murder.”
Businessman hacked to death
A garment businessman has been hacked to death because of a dispute over establishing dominance in Tangail.
The incident occurred in Baghil union of Sadar upazila on Thursday morning. The deceased is Sanu Mia, 40, who hailed from Krishnapur village.
Sanu Mia had a garment business in Saudia Super Market of Tangail.
