One killed in Thakurgaon land dispute, 2 held

Police detained two people, Parul and Nurul Haque Pelu, in connection with the incident

One person was killed in a land dispute in Sadar upazila of Thakurgaon.

The deceased is identified as Muktadur Rahman, 50, of Harinaraipur village of the upazila.

The incident happened in the village on Wednesday morning.

Police detained two people, Parul and Nurul Haque Pelu, in connection with the incident.

According to local sources, Parul, Rahima, Nurul Haque, and Sohela Gong, were on Muktidar Rahman’s land for 30 years.

When Muktadir claimed his land, the residents barred him from taking possession of it.

Both parties later filed a case in this regard. While the proceedings were ongoing, on Tuesday, Nurul Haque and Parul started the construction of another house on the land.

On Wednesday morning, when Muktadir went to the spot, a clash broke out between the two sides and at one point Parul and Nurul struck Muktadir, critically injuring Muktadir.

He was rushed to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Thakurgaon Sadar police station OC, Chitta Ranjan, confirmed the matter and said the situation was now under control.

Parul and Nurul Haque were arrested for their involvement in the incident. A case has been filed in this regard, said the OC.
