They were arrested at the Kushtia Collectorate area around 12pm on Tuesday.

According to witnesses, the BNP leaders and activists went to pay tribute to the martyrs on the Independence Day, at the Shaheed Minar, at the district's Collectorate intersection around 11pm.

After placing their floral wreath on the memorial, Roomi, BNP district secretary general, started giving a speech; during which police intervened and arrested him, along with other 10 BNP leaders and activists.

Later, they were taken to the Kushtia Model police station.

Police is yet to confirm the reason for the arrests.
