A Chhatra League activist has been injured in an attack at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet on Saturday.
Rajib Sarkar, a student of the Bangla department at SUST, is a follower of Mushfiqur Rahman Bhuiya, a senior Chhatra League leader of the university unit.
Rajib claimed Rishad Hasan, Suman Mia, Shohag Islam, supporters of Chhatra League Cultural Affairs Secretary Shakwat Hossain, and General Secretary Asif Hossain Rony attacked him with sharp weapons near a shop adjacent the main gate of SUST.
Rajib sustained head injuries in the attack, sources said.
He was admitted to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after the incident.
When contacted, SUST Proctor Prof Zahir Uddin Ahmed said Rajib was attacked by some Chhatra League men over past enmity.
"We will take steps after investigating the matter," he added.
