Case filed over the murder of Sunamganj AL leader Joynal

The man’s body was found early Tuesday after he went missing the night before

A case has been filed over the murder of Awami League’s Jahangirnagar union unit general secretary Joynal Abedin in Sunamganj Sadar.

The deceased’s wife Afroza Khatun on Wednesday filed the murder case against six people who she named and seven unknown others at the Sadar model police station, confirmed the station’s OC Md Shahidullah.

Four of the accused were previously detained by police on Tuesday morning. They were shown arrested in the case, said the OC.

“We are trying to catch the rest of the accused,” he added.

Joynal went missing on Monday night after he left his Islampur home for Mongolkata Bazar.

His body, which bore multiple stab wounds, was found by locals near Dhalaipar Government Primary School in Jahangirnagar union in the early hours Tuesday. Police later recovered the body.
