Police on Wednesday recovered the bodies of the driver and the helper of a stolen oil tanker in the Baghbari jetty area of the Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj.
Based on the GPS information provided by the owners, police recovered the abandoned vehicle along with the two bodies concealed in the back of the truck.
According to police sources, on Monday the oil tanker truck carrying 60 barrels of edible palm oil was hijacked while it was heading to Natore from Dhaka.
Shahjadpur police station OC Md Golam Kibria confirmed the matter and said: “It is suspected that the hijackers hitchhiked onto the oil tanker and suffocated its driver and helper to death and made away with 50 barrels of oil.”
The truck belonged to Kishwan Agro Limited, a company based in Natore.
Earlier, similarly another truck was hijacked carrying corn grains on the Bogra-Rangpur Highway.
The truck was later recovered from the Sayedabad area of the Bangabandhu Bridge along 0with the burnt bodies of the driver and helper.
