Locals formed a human-chain and held processions and demonstrations demanding punishment of a coaching centre teacher over attempts of murder and kidnapping minors in Narail.
According to local sources, on Friday the accused Rokibul Islam Mithu, a local coaching centre teacher assaulted the family members of one his students after she turned down Mithu’s romantic proposal.
Later Mithu along with his brothers tried to abduct the girl but failed.
On Monday afternoon, teachers, students and locals formed a human-chain on the Narail-Magura Highway and held demonstrations in the Sadar upazila,during which the agitated locals vandalized the houses of the accused and his brothers.
The locals had staged the demonstration as a case was filed with the Sadar police station, but the police couldn't arrest Mithu and his brothers.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mithu and along with his three brothers appeared before the court and the court sent them to jail.
Locals frequently complained about the convicted brothers’, who tormented young school girls of the area.
