The arrested was identified as Ismail Hossain, also the owner of the 100kg goat which went viral on social media after it was offered to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a gift.

Police arrested the suspect in the Daulatpur upazila on Tuesday and sent him to jail the next day.

According to the police, Ismail under the facade of a tea stall business sold narcotics to locals and outsider drug users.

In this regard, the tea stall owner had cases and an arrest warrant filed against him with the Daulatpur police station.

Daulatpur police station OC Nazrul Islam confirmed and said: “Based on substantial evidence he was arrested. Legal action will be taken against the individual after further investigation.”

Regarding the 100kg goat, Ismail said: “The goat was born and reared by my mother. As a token of respect we wanted to present it to our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

However he denied the allegations regarding drug trading and said that, his tea is well-known in the area and so, his stall is often crowded with many visitors.
