A garments worker has been killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj.
The accident took place near the Siddhirganj Burma Stand area on the Narayanganj-Shimrail road at around 7am on Wednesday.
Quoting witnesses, Siddhirganj Sub-Inspector Rafiq said: “Tania Akhter and the three others were traveling to Adamjee EPZ area via an auto-rickshaw when a bus collided with their vehicle head-on. Tania was dead on the spot.”
The deceased Tania was a 28-year-old who worked as a helper at Ananta Apparel garment factory located in Adamjee EPZ.
“Two of the injured are Shapla, 23 and Jewel, 22. We have yet to identify the third,” the sub-inspector added.
The injured were first taken to the Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital but as their condition deteriorated, they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The bus driver and his helper fled the scene of the accident.
