In a span of 10 hours, from 6am to 4pm on Monday, six separate cases of unnatural deaths were reported in Khulna.
Among the reported victims, one was slaughtered by unknown miscreants, four died in separate road crashes, and one child died while ‘play pretending’ to be suffocated.
According to Khulna Additional Superintendent of Police, Md Anichur Rahman, police recovered a dead body severed from the head, near West Nandanpur Majumdar road area in Rupsha upazila around 6am.
The body was identified as Imran Beyara, a 40-year-old van driver and the motive behind his murder was being investigated, he added.
Meanwhile, an assistant at Bharat Bhayana Union Health Complex was killed in a collision between a motorbike and a truck in the Nornia area of Dumuria upazila.
The deceases motorcyclist, Jahidul Islam, died on the spot following the accident around 11am.
In another road collision between a passenger bus and private car, three men died, including two surgeons, in Fultola upazila around 3:40pm.
The deceased are Gazi Medical College Hospital’s Dr Shahadat Hossain, Cure Home General Hospital’s Dr Moazzem Hossain, and private car driver Jahangir Hossain.
Lastly, according to Daulatpur police station OC, Kazi Mostaq Ahmed, a nine-year-old boy hung himself from a window grill, ‘play prenteding to’ be suffocated.
The child tragically died around 3pm in his own residence in the Daulatpur Munishipara area.
An abduction case was filed with the police station in this connection, the OC added.
Earlier, February 10 to February 13, at least nine individuals died in separate road accidents across Khulna district.
