Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Md Abdul Hamid have expressed their deep shock over the Chawkbazar fire which broke out last night. They also conveyed their condolences to those affected.
The prime minister stated this to the media on Thursday during the morning procession at the Shaheed Minar.
The president called for everyone to extend their support to the families of those killed by, or injured in, the fire.

Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said the government will stand beside the victims of the fire and do everything it can to help them recover.
Till now, at least 70 people have been killed in a massive fire that engulfed several multi-storey buildings at Nanda Kumar Lane in Chawkbazar’s Churihatta area of Old Dhaka Wednesday on night.
