Seventh span of Padma Bridge reaches Jazira Point

It will be placed between the 35th and 36th pillars

The seventh span of the under construction Padma Bridge has reached Jazira Point near the 35th and 36th pillars on which it will be placed.

It left the construction yard in Mawa on Tuesday morning on the floating crane Tian Yi, said the bridge’s Assistant Engineer Humayun Kabir.

The span is 150 metres long and weighs 3,140 ton. The floating crane’s capacity is 3,600 ton.

Humayun Kabir said the span is already close to the pillars and will be put in place on Wednesday morning.

The 6.15km bridge will have 41 pillars. The first span was placed on the pillars on September 30, 2017.
