Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime accused of killing a Pir and his daughter in Dinajpur.
“Main accused Shafiqul Islam Babu was arrested from Joymonirhat frontier in Kurigram early Monday,” RAB 13 Commander ATM Atikullah briefed media in RAB’s Rangpur city office in the morning.

“Shafiqul, in primary interrogation, admitted to leading the killing mission and taking part in the murders,” the RAB commander added.
Pir Farhad Hossain Chowdhury and Rupali Begum were found dead at his Khanqah Sharif in Hatrampur area, close to his Doulagram village home on March 13.
Both of them had bullet marks on their bodies and the young woman’s neck was slit with a sharp weapon. Farhad was the former president of BNP’s Setabganj municipality unit. Rupali was his adopted daughter.
Later, police on suspicion detained another Pir Eshaq Ali and his disciple Saidur Rahman from district's Bhurungamari Upazila on Wednesday. They admitted that Safiqul and his associates carried out the killings according to their plot.
