31 rescued before being trafficked to Malaysia

Of them, 14 are women and six are children

Police have rescued 31 people at Shonadia, under Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar, while they were preparing to travel to Malaysia, illegally, via the Bay of Bengal.

Shafiul Alam Chowdhury, inspector (investigation) of Maheshkhali police station, said a team of police conducted a drive in the area and rescued them on Wednesday night.

Of them, 14 are women and six are children.

However, police were unable arrest anyone in connection with this as the traffickers managed to flee the scene.
