Police, in a drive on Wednesday evening, detained 31 Rohingyas, including women and children, from Sonadia Island in the Moheshkhali upazila of the Cox's Bazar district while they were being trafficked to Malaysia.
Moheshkhali police station Officer-in-Charge Shafiul Alam Chowdhury said the police held 11 men, 14 women and six children around 8pm while they were being trafficked to Malaysia through the island.
The police were trying to arrest the traffickers, he also said.
