Police arrested a man on Monday in Pabna, suspected of being involved in the murder of a freedom fighter.
According to the police, Mostafizur Rahman Selim – a freedom fighter and former general secretary of Pakshi Union Awami League unit – was shot dead outside his house in Pabna’s Rooppur on the night of February 6.
On Sunday night, police arrested Abdullah Al Baki Arju, a 48-year-old member with the Jubo League – an Awami League wing organization. Arju is also the nephew of the chairman of Pakshi Union Parishad.

Superintendent of Police, Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, told the media on Monday afternoon that Arju was arrested with a foreign-manufactured handgun and two bullets.
He also claimed that Arju confessed to both planning and carrying out the murder. The police also said Arju provided additional substantial information which is not being revealed to protect the investigation.
Arju will be sent to prison before he is produced in front of the court on murder charges.
