The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has returned, to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the body of Sohel Rana Babu, a 14 year old Bangladeshi teen who was shot dead along the Jagdal border in Thakurgaon, on Tuesday.
The body was handed over to 50 BGB’s Battalion Commander Lt Col Tuhin Md Masud, at pillar number 375 adjacent to Jagdal border at around 8:30pm, by a BSF contingent led by their 171 Battalion Commandant Rakesh Sinha, which was preceded by a flag meeting between the two parties.
Ranisankail police station’s officer-in-charge Abdul Mannan told the Dhaka Tribune Babu’s body was handed over to his family soon after.
Babu was shot dead on Monday at the Jagdal border after returning from India.
He had previously trespassed with his maternal uncle to attend a feast a few days back.
Three Bangladeshi nationals have been killed along the border in the past ten days. On January 18, BSF shot dead Jahangir Alam, 21, near the Dharmagarh border; and Md Jonorul Haque, 22, was gunned down at the Manipur border area just four days after that incident.
