A minor schoolgirl was killed after she had been raped in the Sharifpur Sonda area under the Gazipur city corporation on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Tahannum ,5, daughter of Humayun Kabir in the area. She was a nursery student at Matrichaya Kindergarten School.
According to locals and police, Tahannum went for a shower to her grandfather’s house on Sunday morning.
Her family started looking for her when she failed to return by afternoon.
Her body was later found in the bushes far from her house.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College and Hospital.
“We are primarily suspecting that some culprit raped the girl and then hit her on the head with a brick, leaving her dead on the spot,” said Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Sub-Inspector Kabir Uddin.
Nobody was be held as yet in this connection, he added.
