Police arrested six Rohingyas of the same family from the Kadamtali bus terminal on Sunday.
In a statement issued by Zedan Al Musa, additional deputy commissioner of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), the six arrested were Md Selim, 25, from Shaheb Bazar area of Arakan, his wife Julekha, 22, Yeasmin Ara, 12, Nur Kalima, 10, Selim’s five month old son Ashefa and Hazera Khatun, 45.
The statement also read that they were arrested from the bus terminal around 10:30pm. After initial interrogation, they revealed they were Rohingya nationals who first fled from Arakan, Myanmar to India’s Guwahati.
They added they entered Bangladesh from the Zakiganj border. Their relative, Sheikh Ahmed, is currently a refugee in the Kutupalong refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya.
