A clash between two groups over land dispute has left one dead and 12 others injured in Singra upazila of Natore.
The incident took place at Madha Bansbaria village under Dahiya union on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was Alamgir Hossain, a resident of the abovementioned village and the older brother of local UP member Kamal Hossain.
Singra police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Danamul Alam confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
According to locals, Alamgir was taken to Natore Sadar Hospital following the clash, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival (DOA). The injured are undergoing treatment in various medical facilities in the region.
Quoting witnesses, Singra police station OC (investigation) Neyamul Alam said: “Two local men- Kamal and Kalam had a long standing land dispute between them. Their dispute escalated in a clash on Friday, as supporters of the duo engaged in violence with blunt and sharp weapons.
“The body of the deceased has been sent to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
