Police have arrested three BNP leaders on charges of sabotage, and one activist for stabbing a local Jubo League leader, in Bogra.
Those arrested are District BNP Women Affairs Secretary and former Vice Chairman of Shibganj upazila Parishad Beauty Begum, Bogra municipality ward number 7 Councillor Delwar Hossain Poshari Hiru, and Kutubpur union Chairman of Sariakandi upazila BNP leader Ali Imran Rony. The court has sent them all to jail.
According to the Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge SM Badiuzzaman said: “Beauty Begum was arrested in a case about the vandalism of Grand Alliance and JaPa leader, Shariful Islam Jinnah’s, motorcade.”
Sadar police station second officer Manjurul Haque Bhuiyan said: “BNP leader Hossain Poshari Hiru has been arrested in a case of crude bomb attacks on Grand Alliance candidate Nurul Islam Omar. We have also arrested 12 suspects responsible for the attack on Nurul Islam.”
Detective Branch of police (DB) Inspector Nure Alam Siddiqui said: “Kutubpur UP Chairman of, and BNP leader, Ali Imran Rony has been arrested in a case of sabotage. We handed him over to Saryakandi police station on Thursday.”
In a separate incident one BNP activist was arrested for stabbing a Jubo League leader in Bogra.
BNP activist Manik stabbed local Jubo League leader Ronju Hossain Tojam during a dispute over their support for the upcoming general polls on Wednesday.
According to sources, a case is being filed regarding this incident with the Sadar police station.
