Two people have been arrested with 700 pieces of yaba in Mirzapur, Tangail.
They were arrested at Postkamuri village in Mirzapur on Thursday night. The arrestees are: Sharmin Sultana, 35, hailing from Postkamuri village; and Anwar Hossain, 40, from Khailsindur village in Uarshi union under Mirzapur.
AKM Mizanul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirzapur police station, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive around 11:15pm on Thursday in a house in Postkamuri village, from where we arrested the culprits with 700 pieces of yaba.”
The arrestees have been selling and abusing yaba for a long time, the OC said.
A case has been filed with the Mirzapur police station, the OC said. The court sent the culprits to jail on Friday.
