Rangamati and Khagrachhari district units of Parbattya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) organised several programs to mark the 35th anniversary of death of its founder and former MP Manabendra Narayan Larma, who was assassinated by a group of derailed members of defunct Shantibahini on November 10, 1983 with his eight followers.
In Rangamati, a memorial meeting was held at Shipakala Academy in Rangamati town to mark the day.
Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, popularly known as Santu Larma, also the younger brother of MN Larma, addressed the meeting as chief guest.
Presided over by Rangamati unit PCJSS Vice-President Kishre Kumar Chakma, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by PCJSS Vice-President Ushaton Talukder MP, CHT Adivasi Forum convener Prakriti Ranjan Chakma and CHT Regional Council councilor Gautam Kumar Chakma.

Speakers at the meeting said MN Larma was not only a leader of the ethnic people but also a national and revolutionary leader, who fought to establish rights of all deprived people.
MN Larma fought to establish a secular and inclusive Bangladesh and was the first person to initiate a unified indigenous peoples’ movement in CHT, they added.
They also demanded immediate implementation of CHT Accord and the constitutional rights of all ethnic people in Bangladesh.
In Khagrachhari, earlier in the morning, leaders and activists of PCJSS took part in mourning processions in the town.

Later, a discussion was held at Mahajanpara in the town presided over by PCJSS Joint Secretary Profullo Kumar Chakma participated by local leaders of Jana Sanghati Samity.
The speakers said the ethnic people in hills want to survive with all sorts of rights through complete execution of the accord.
They also demanded withdrawal of false and fabricated cases filed against the leaders and members of PCJSS.
