A case has been filed accusing transport workers for the death of a seven-day-old infant in Moulvibazar during the 48-hour nationwide transport strike earlier this week.
The victim’s uncle Akbar Ali Fulu Mia filed the case with Baralekha police station on Wednesday night—accusing 160 unidentified people.
Moulvibazar Additional Superintendent of Police (Kulaura circle) Abu Yusuf confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.

The girl, who had not yet been named, died on her way to hospital in the district’s Chandgram upazila, on Sunday, as the ambulance carrying her was stopped several times by the protesting transport workers.
The Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation enforced the strike on Sunday and Monday to press home their eight-point demand, including amending the recently-passed Road Transport Act 2018.
