Brahmanbaria administration has imposed section 144 at Ramrail union in sadar upazila, after two groups called their meetings at the venue and time.
Executive magistrate Jannatul Ferdous, who is the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Sadar upazila, imposed the restriction on Friday night which took effect from 6am on Saturday. The section 144 will remain in effect until further notice, reports UNB.
According to sources, Muktijuddher Chetona and Adarsha Bastobayan Parishad, a platform of freedom fighters, called for a rally in a field adjacent to Ramrail Union Parishad Bhaban at 3pm on Saturday.
Ramrail union unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League also called a meeting in the field at the same time.
To avoid any untoward incident, the local administration imposed the emergency section on Friday night, following an application submitted by the officer-in-charge of Sadar police station.
