Police has found the bullet-struck body of a listed robber in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The body was found around 5am on Friday at the Teknaf-Cox’s Bazar road’s Damaddia Hilly area.
The deceased was identified as Barmaya Hamidul Islam alias Lalaiya, 35— son of Kala Mia of Uchulmari village of Hingla Union of Teknaf upazila. He was a listed robber and drug trader.
At the time two LG pistols, 10 bullets and 6,000 yaba pills were recovered.
Cox’s bazaar Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Masud Hossain has confirmed the news.
He said: “We received news about a clash going on, in the Damaddia area, between two groups of gangsters. When a team of the Teknaf Model police station went there, the miscreants left and Lalaiya’s body was lying on the ground.
“Police later took him to Teknaf hospital where he was pronounced dead. Lalaiya is a listed criminal and there are several cases filed against him.”
“Two cases relating to arms and drugs have been filed regarding the incident at the Teknaf Model police station,” SP Masud added.
