Suspected drug peddler killed in Jessore 'gunfight'

A suspected drug peddler has been killed in a so-called gunfight in Jessore. The deceased, a man in his thirties, is yet to be identified by the authorities.

Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Jessore kotwali police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mokhles Uzzaman said: “We received a tip-off around 3:30am that a gunfight was taking place in the Mondolgati area.

“A police team was dispatched to the scene. Upon spotting law enforcers, the drug peddlers made their escape. Later, police found the body of an unknown man, 2kg of marijuana, and 200 yaba pills in the area.”

The body has been sent to the Jessore General Hospital morgue.

The SI furthered that the police suspect died during a gunfight between two gangs of illegal narcotics traders. The process to file a case, in connection with the incident, is underway.
