A suspected drug trader has been killed in a reported gunfight in Jessore.
The incident took place in Shankarpur Bablatala Hatchery area around 3am on Saturday.
The deceased is Topon alias Tera Topon, 45, son of Shafiqul Islam from the neighboring Raipara area.
Police said the drug trader died in a "gunfight" between two gangs of drug traders.
Jessore Kotwali model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Apurbo Hasan told the Dhaka Tribune: "On information, we went to the spot and recovered the body. However, the other drug traders managed to flee the scene."
The OC said the body has been sent to Jessore General Hospital.
Besides, the law enforcers also recovered 5kg of cannabis from the spot.
OC Apurbo said Topon was accused in 13 criminal cases, including drugs.
A case will be filed in this regard, he said.
