Police have arrested a madrasa director in a murder case of his wife and student in Gazipur.
Ibrahim Khalil Talukdar, director at Huffazul Quran Madrasa in Chandna area, was arrested on Wednesday night, said Basan police station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Al-Amin.
Mahmuda Akhtar, 25, wife of Ibrahim, and student Mamun, 7, were killed inside the madrasa, early on Tuesday.
Mahmuda’s father Hanif Gazi filed the case on Wednesday, accusing Ibrahim and four others.
SI Amin said a madrasa student named Sabbir saw Ibrahim sharpening the machete on Monday night.

Ibrahim also asked Sabbir to call the slain student to his room, the SI said.
Mahmuda’s father said he married off his daughter to the madrasa teacher six years ago and recently they came to know that it was Ibrahim’s second marriage.
A few months ago, Ibrahim’s first wife issued him a threat. The couple got divorced in 2010.
Basan police station’s OC Moktar Hossain said during preliminary interrogation; Ibrahim had hired professional killers to have his wife murdered .
As Mamun happened to witness the incident he was also killed due to being the only eye witness, Ibrahim told police.
However, it is yet to be ascertained why Ibrahim planned to kill his wife.
