A nine-month-old girl has burned to death, and her family members sustained injuries, in a house fire that broke out in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The incident happened around 4am on Friday. The victim was identified as Elma Akter. Elma’s father, Rabiul, and her four-year-old brother, Golam Rabib, were also burned.
Nabinagar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aslam Sikder told the Dhaka Tribune: “The fire originated from leaking pipe in the LP gas cylinder. Rabiul’s wife was cooking breakfast in the morning. The fire started when she went to the bathroom.”
The child, who was asleep in the house, was burned to death on the spot. Rabiul and Rabib were rescued and taken to the the Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex, he said.
Later, Rabib was sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital’s burn unit for better treatment.
