A 15km-long tailback has formed, ahead of the Eid vacation, near the Bangabandhu bridge on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
Traffic increased on Monday morning as more vehicles than usual are plying the road; it is taking a lot more time than usual time to pass the Tangail section of the highway.
Homebound passengers and drivers are suffering as a result of this.
According to police, two accidents occurred on the highway around 2am Monday. However there were no casualties.
Bangabandhu Bridge East police station OC Mosharraf Hossain while speaking to the Dhaka Tribune said: “After two road accidents, the traffic on the highway was interrupted. Hopefully the speed of the vehicles will return to normal.”
Allega Highway police outpost Sergeant Azizur Rahim Talukder said: “Police are working tirelessly to resolve traffic congestion on the highway. We hope that the movement of vehicles will return to normal soon.”
