At least seven people were killed in separate road accidents on roads in six districts across the country on Sunday.
Our Nilphamari correspondent said two cattle traders were killed as the vehicle carrying them and their cows collided head on with a pickup van on Nilphamari-Syedpur road in Kazirhat area in the Syedpur upazila in Nilphamari.
The deceased are Hemanta Roy, 40, and Meher Kumar, 45.
Officer-in-charge of Syedpur Sadar police station Shahjahan Pasha said their human hauler was hit by a pickup on Nilphamari-Syedpur road at Kazirhat area around 8:30pm, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur in the morning, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was Rahim Miah, 50.
Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman said a sand-laden truck smashed the motorcycle at Kamarbari intersection around 10am, leaving the biker dead on the scene.
A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident in Lalabazar area of Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet in the afternoon, reports our correspondent.
Deceased Alaluzzaman Alal, 50, was a resident of Dharadharpur village in the upazila, said Dakshin Surma police station Officer in-Charge Khairul Fazal.
The OC said a cow-laden truck hit the motorcycle of Alal in the area around 2:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Soon after the incident, agitated people staged demonstration blocking Dhaka-Sylhet highway demanding arrest of the truck driver and construction of a speed breaker on the road.
Later the agitated people left the highway for vehicular movement after law enforcers assured them of meeting their demands, the OC added.
Our Gopalganj correspondent said a driver of a three-wheeler was killed in a road accident in Digholia area under Kotalipara of the district.
The deceased was Rasel Sikder, 30, son of Mungu Sikder at Kakdanga village under the upazila.
Kotalipara police station Officer-in-charge Kamrul Faruk said the accident took place when a truck coming from opposition direction hit vegetables laden three-wheeler run by Rasel leaving him dead on the spot.
According to our Madaripur correspondent, a minor girl was killed when a micro-bus rammed into a shop on the Barisal-Dhaka highway near Kornopara area in the district in the afternoon.
The deceased was Ema, 7, a class two student and daughter of Emarat Hossen.
Suman Dev, superintendent of police confirmed the incident.
A former UP member was killed when an easy bike hit him in Uttar Goran area in Naogaon district, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was Amzad Hossain, 65, former Uttar Goran UP member.
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mahadevpur police station, confirmed the incident.
