Police arrested a youth in Moulvibazar on charges of making a derogatory post about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the social networking site Facebook.
The youth – Shoaib Ahmed, 24 – was arrested in the Padma Chhara tea garden area of Kamalganj upazila, early on Sunday.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Kamalganj police station Sub-Inspector Champak Dam said: “A post containing a derogatory image and text about the prime minister was shared using Shoaib Ahmed’s Facebook account.
“Shoaib was arrested after Adampur Union Jubo League General Secretary Moynul Haque filed a case under the ICT act against him.”
The suspect hails from Madhyabhag Village under the same upazila.
