Traffic comes to a standstill, ambulances allowed to pass

Update : 02 Aug 2018, 07:30 PM

In a bid to bring back discipline on the roads, students in the port city of Chittagong have taken to the streets for the second consecutive day, checking licenses of vehicles on the roads.

Students in uniform with school bags were seen checking licenses of buses, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and private cars, at No 2 Gate and the Wasa intersection in the city.

The traffic movement virtually came to a standstill due to the license checking by students. However, the students let ambulances pass through.

Students of Cantonment Public School and College, Kazem Ali School and College, Chittagong College, Government Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College, Shyamoli Polytechnic and Polytechnic Institute, were seen checking if drivers of vehicles had proper papers.

Students have been on the streets in cities across the country protesting and demanding justice after Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, students of the college section of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College, were killed as a Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan bus ploughed through some students on Airport Road in Dhaka.
