Five people have been killed and three others injured after a truck collided head-on with a microbus on the Sylhet-Dhaka Highway in Ilaspur area of Osmaninagar upazila in Sylhet.
The identities of the victims are yet to be known. One of them was a child.
Sylhet’s Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Md Mahbubul Alam said the Sylhet-bound truck had collided with the microbus in front of Osmaninagar police station on the highway around 4pm on Thursday.
Four people were killed on the spot. A fifth person succumbed to the wounds while being treated at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital with three others, who have been admitted there with critical injuries.
All five deceased were passengers of the Noakhali-bound microbus. Their bodies were kept at the hospital morgue.
Police official Mahbubul said the two damaged vehicles were also impounded afterwards.
