Bangladesh Bank’s Assistant Director (Foreign Currency Management Division) Rashedul Bashar has drowned in the swimming pool of a hotel where he was staying in Bangkok, Thailand.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon, and was confirmed by two of his uncles, Sharif Chowdhury and former Chandpur Press Club president Ikram Chowdhury.
Rashedul, of Chandpur Sadar, went to Bangkok on May 6 for a year-long training course under a central bank scholarship.
The 34-year-old’s body will arrive in Chittagong at 4pm on Thursday, family members said.
