A nine-year-old boy was trampled to death by an elephant in Satkhira’s Tala upazila.
The tragic incident took place in the Gangarampur Paka Bridge area on Thursday.
The victim, Riad, son of one Hasan Gazi, was from the village of Gangarampur.
Tala police station Officer-in-Charge, Mehedi Rasel, said Riad went to see the elephant near the bridge area when suddenly the animal tangled the boy with its trunk and stomped him to death.
Police rushed to the spot and rounded up the elephant. However, the animal’s caretaker fled the scene, the OC said.
