At least 11 people were killed and 50 others injured in six separate road accidents in five districts on Thursday.
Five people died and 15 others were injured after a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch in Khulna’s Dumuria Upazila.
Police confirmed the identities of three of the victims – Shahinur Gazi, 40, Shariful Islam, 35, and Mostofa Gazi, 35.Habil Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dumuria police station confirmed the matter.
In Comilla, 7-year-old child Md Safwan was crushed by a pickup carrying cattle in Rashidpur village of Maisatua union in Monohorganj upazila Wednesday night.
The incident was confirmed by Monohorganj OC, Anwar Hossain, Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, in Bhola, a man and a teenage boy were killed and six people injured, following a collision between a human hauler and a trolley in the Helipad area of Charfassion upazila on Thursday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Md Mansur Talukder, 45, and Siam, 12, as confirmed by Md Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Charfassion police station.
In Kishoreganj, two people were killed and 30 others injured in accidents in the Pakundia and Karimganj upazilas on Thursday morning.
In Pakundia, a Kishoreganj-bound bus collided with a pick-up van, killing a woman, Jarina Begum, on the spot, and injuring 19 other people.
In Karimganj, a Dhaka-bound bus plunged into a pond, killing Helal Mia on the spot and injuring 11 others.
Chittagong’s Khagrachhari saw an NGO worker killed when a microbus hit his motorcycle in the Lemuchhari area of Sadar upazila in the district.
The deceased was identified as Sugata Chakma, 42.
