Three suspected drug peddlers suffered bullet wounds in a reported gunfight with police in Komornai area of Gaibandha early Saturday.
The injured were identified as Sabuj Miah, Maruf Hasan Jim, and Moshiur Rahman.
The drug peddlers were held during an anti-drug drive recently.
Gaibandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khan Mohammad Shahriar said, based on the drug peddlers’ information, a team of police along with them conducted a drive in the area.
When the team reached the spot, a group of drug peddlers reportedly attacked the police with sharp weapons, prompting them to fire back, which led to the gunfight.
At one stage, the three drug peddlers were caught in the line of fire and injured.
Five policemen also suffered injuries in the gunfight, the OC said.
