A mother and son lost their lives having been run over by a train in Tangail, Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred in the Gorasin area of Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Brishti Akhter, 23, wife of Saudi Arabia expatriate Shahin Mian and her three-year old son Rahat, both residents of Namdarkumilli village of the upazila.
Local UP member Abdul Zabbar said Brishti and her son went out of her father's house around 8:30am.
"They were run over by the Dhaka-bound Silk-city express around 12pm," said Jalal Uddin, Tangail Railway Station Master.
Brishti's neighbors said that she was mentally challenged while some others said that she jumped in front of the moving train along with son, following a feud with her in-laws.
