A Kushtia court has sentenced one person to death and two others to life in prison over the murder of Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Shahrukh Khan Piash.
Judge Arup Kumar Goswami of District Sessions and Judges’ Court handed down the verdict on Monday, public prosecutor Anup Kumar Nandy said.
He fined death row convict, Tutul Hossain, Tk20,000 and convicts to lifetime imprisonment, Ashraful Islam and Mosharraf Hossain, Tk 10,000 each.
Piash was a student and student leader of Kushtia Government College.
According to case details, Tutul and his associates shot Piash dead in Harisankarpur area on July 10, 2015 over an internal feud.
Piash’s father filed a murder case with the Kushtia sadar police station following the incident.
