A man named Sohel Ahmed, 20, from Jessore, had been beaten up while trying to save his sister from molestation.
The sexually assaulted 22 year old and her brother were admitted to the Jessore General Hospital in the early hours of Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday night around 10:30 in the slum beside Bakchar Karim fuel pump.
Immediately on receiving the news, Kotwali Police Station OC Abul Bashar, In-charge of Sadar Police Outpost Matiur Rahman and In-charge of Old Kashba Police Outpost Inspector Shihab Hossain visited the victims at the hospital.
Sohel is the son of Afsar Ali of Bakchar area.
Sohel’s sister said: “Around 10:30 at night, Shahinur, Shukur, Shamim and Rakis, forcefully took me towards a nearby field, ripped off my clothes and touched the sensitive parts of my body. On hearing my screams, my brother rushed to rescue me.”
“They then beat him up with iron rods and injured him. Later the locals came to our rescue and admitted us to the hospital.”
Dr M Abdur Rashid of the hospital said: “Sohel’s condition is critical as he was beaten up brutally, and he was bleeding from his nose. His sister has been admitted as a sexual assault victim.”
When asked about the incident OC Abdul Bashar said they will look into the matter.
