A leader of a local unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was shot to death by some unidentified assailants in Faraji Para of Kushtia Sadar upazila, early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nazmul Hossain, 27, a vice-president of the district unit of BCL and son of Altaf Hossain of Kushtia Sadar upazila.
SI Atiqur Rahman of Kushtia Model police station said: “A group of miscreants swooped on Nazmul and shot him in the head while he was sleeping at his home.”
“Later, critically injured Atiqur was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where doctors declared him dead," he added.
However, the motive behind the killing could not be determined yet, said the police.
