A woman was strangled to death by some miscreants at Nagbati village in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Jebunnesa, 50, wife of Abdul Aziz Sardar.
Locals said that a group of miscreants entered the house of Aziz when he went to mosque for the Tarabi prayers.
The miscreants strangulated Jebunnesa to death and took way two mobile phones and a pair of earrings of her.
After returning home, Aziz found his wife dead and informed neighbours.
On information, police recovered the body and detained Aziz for interrogation, said Syed Mannan Ali, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar police station.
