A youth from Charshonamukhi village of Gopalpur upazila in Tangail hanged himself after his parents denied him permission to marry.
The incident occurred on Thursday night, confirmed Officer In-charge (OC) of Gopalpur police station Hasan Al-Mamun. Later, his body was sent to the Tangail general hospital for autopsy.
Deceased 18-year-old Sumon Mia was a truck helper. According to the OC, Sumon used to live with his father and step-mother since childhood. On Thursday night, Sumon insisted on marrying a girl he liked. However, his mother denied him permission at that moment and said the matter would be settled afterward.
Angry at his parents, Sumon went inside his room and hanged himself.
A case filed over unnatural death was lodged in Gopalpur police station.
