BGB detains 8 Rohingyas at Satkhira border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have detained eight Rohingyas, including five women and two children, from the Satkhira border. They were detained from the district’s Shikori village while trying to cross the Kushkhali border to enter India Friday night. They detainees are Ismail, 25, Fatema Akter, 20, Yasmin Akter, 19, Taslima Akter, 18, Wazed Ali, 13, Nur Hasa, 14, Most Forsi, 11, and Giasuddin, 6. BGB’s Kushkhali Border Observation Post (BOP) commander Subedar Jahir said members of a human trafficking group brought them from Chittagong. The BGB men, on information, detained them while they were trying to transfer the refugees to India through the village. Satkhira Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Maruf Ahmed said the detainees were handed over to the police. “They will be sent to the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar with police force escort,” the OC added.
