Two bobcat cubs rescued in Kushtia

Two bobcat cubs have been rescued in the Bheramara upazila of Kushtia. Locals recovered the two cubs from the North Bhabanipur area of Dharampur union of the upazila on Monday. The cubs were later taken to Sheikh Russel Shishu Park in the locality. Dharampur UP Chairman Shahabul Islam Lalu said: “When locals informed me of the rescued cubs, I immediately made arrangements for them to be brought to the nearby park.” Bheramara upazila Forest Department officer Abdur Razzak said: “The two cubs are currently under the care of the local chairman. We have contacted the Wildlife Conservation Directorate and they will be acquiring the cubs soon.” “Locals beat the cubs’ mother to death a few days ago,” he added. On Thursday, locals beat a bobcat to death with heavy sticks and clubs after it attacked a woman from the area. It is suspected that the rescued cubs are the offspring of this unfortunate animal.
