Bagharpara police OC Choynuddin Ahmed said: “The trucks have not been removed yet, they are still stuck in the middle of the bridge.”
The injured were sent to Jessore General Hospital.Traffic on the Jessore-Magura road has come to a grinding halt after a bailey bridge caved in at Jessore's Simakhali, after apparently failing to support the weight of several cargo-laden vehicles.
The bridge collapsed around 10am on Monday, injuring two people and stranding scores of vehicles on both ends.
“The bridge failed to hold when two trucks and a pick-up truck carrying stones were crossing,” Barobazar highway police OC Nazrul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune.
