Khulna University organizes three-minute thesis competition

Khulna University (KU) had organized a three-minute thesis competition for the students to present their research work so that their research capabilities and communication skills are improved. The final phase of the competition and the Closing Ceremony were held at Liakat Ali auditorium of Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose academic building of KU around 3pm on Sunday. The competition was arranged to encourage students of various disciplines from the Life Science School to come forward and share their research work. 15 students presented their thesis work in the grand final after completing the preliminary rounds. Ramisa Nowshin, a student of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Technology discipline emerged as the champion. Ar-Rafi, student of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering became the runners-up, while, Forestry and Wood Technology's Sumaiya Rahman received the People's Choice award. The closing ceremony and award-giving ceremony were conducted by the Competition Committee's professor Dr Md Nazmul Ahsan. AK Fazlul Huq, dean of Life Sciences School delivered a speech and distributed the awards as the chief guest. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr Shamim Ahmed, a member of the organizing committee. The head of various disciplines of the Life Sciences School were present, along with the students and faculty members, Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Sale, and the Director of Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The three-minute thesis competition was initiated by Australia's Queensland University and is now globally recognized. It is being organized in 350 universities in 18 countries. Khulna University has been the first institution to adopt this competition in Bangladesh. This competition was organized for the second time by KU this year.
